Antique Coalport Bone China Teacup & Saucer Pattern 996 Floral Gold Gilded. Add a touch of English elegance to your china cabinet or tea service with this authentic antique Coalport teacup and saucer in the sought-after Pattern 996. Beautifully hand-painted with beautiful floral designs and ornate gold gilding, this set exemplifies Coalport's fine craftsmanship from the regency era. Design: Hand-painted florals with gold trim and filigree. 2.5" high x 3.75" diameter.
This elegant set is perfect for collectors of fine English china, afternoon tea lovers, or vintage décor enthusiasts. Note: The pattern number on both pieces looks like 966, however, this could be a discrepancy as the pattern 966 is one with Hockystick details and with different shape handle. The cup is in excellent antique condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or even crazing. The intricate gilding is still lovely and bright given this was produced almost 200 years ago! The saucer appears perfect with with good gilding and bright colours tho with glaze crazing on both sides. The crazing is probably only on the glaze as it still rings when tapped. On a closer inspection, you will see a short line (approx 1cm) in the glaze on the back. This doesn't extend to the front.
The top of the line feels like a tiny nick which has been repaired (not at all obvious). There's another potential repair on the edge of the saucer, again this is not obvious and mentioned for accuracy. Firing grit and kiln dust should not be seen as flaw for antique pieces from this period when they were all fired using coals. Any questions or if you'd like more photos please let me know. All our items are vintage/ antique and previously used, unless stated otherwise. Therefore, some wear marks are to be expected. For antique pieces (ie items which are over 100 years old), kiln dusts/ kiln splits which happened during production process should not be seen as flaws. Antique pieces were fired using coals as supposed to gas fire so temperature control was not always accurate.
We always try to describe our items accurately and will always point out any obvious flaws.
