Gorgeous set of 7 rare footed cups and saucers made by Coalport of England in the vintage pattern known as Cairo. There are many different versions of Cairo; this is is the multicolor on white version, with gold trim and a gently scalloped shape. The theme is birds of paradise with flowers and butterflies, and the colors are pastel shades of blue, pink, yellow, green and gray.

The printed backstamp dates this set to some time between the 1920 and 1960s. There are also some handwritten and incised numbers on the backs. These cups measure 4" in diameter and 2 1/4" tall; the saucers measure 6 in diameter. They are preowned but do not appear to have been used. All 14 pieces are in outstanding condition with no chips, cracks, utensil scratching, or wear to the decoration. The multicolor on white version is one of the hardest Cairo patterns to find, and any piece is rare.
