2 Antique c1890 Austrian Royal Vienna Demitasse Espresso Cup & Saucer Gold Gilt. A pair of demitasse Royal Vienna cup & saucers with beehive mark under glaze, cobalt blue enamel and real gold embellishment. They are decorated with cartouche panel and hand painted Watteau scene of courting couple / lovers. These are a romantic set and are in very good condition with, just a little rubbing to the gilt which is quite minor. One saucer has a tiny fleabite sized nip and a miniscule tiny fleabite to the underside saucer rim.

The other has a fleabite to the saucer on the rim which has been historically touched up with gilt. There is gilt wear to the swags. Royal Vienna Porcelain refers to the exquisite porcelain produced by the Imperial and Royal Porcelain Manufactory in Vienna. Founded in 1718 by Claudius Innocentius du Paquier, it was the second oldest porcelain factory in Europe after Meissen.

In 1744, Empress Maria Theresa took over the factory, and it became an imperial asset. Royal Vienna porcelain is known for its high-quality craftsmanship and beautiful designs, often featuring intricate floral patterns, classical motifs, and gilded details.

The factory operated until 1864, and its pieces are highly prized by collectors today. Cup 2 & 1/4" or 5.7cm diameter and 3" or 7.7cm height. Saucer 4 & 1/8 or 10.5cm diameter. Our items are available for pick-up. No additional information at this time.
