Presented is a lovely set of Fischer & Mieg/Pirkenhammer cups and saucers. These cups and saucers date to the late 1800s or early 1900s. The pieces are white with a band of cobalt and gilt decoration around the rim, as well as beautifully hand painted designs of leafy branches in gold and green.
The cups in particular have a very sumptuous look, with a wide gilt band inside the cup's rim as well. The cups are a smaller size than even traditional antique teacups, possibly chocolate cups? Though of course they can be used however you like. The set has nine cups and nine saucers, with one additional cup which has a fine hairline crack but is still useable. This set is in great overall condition. One of the cups has a hairline near the handle as well as noticeable wear to the gilding around the interior. Another cup likewise has slight but noticeable wear around the interior of the rim in particular. One saucer has a minor hairline in the bottom. Otherwise there are no cracks, no chips, no major wear to the gilding, and no repairs. These cups and saucers have the F&M mark for Fischer & Mieg impressed under the glaze, and came to us with matching pieces with the Fischer & Mieg/Pirkenhammer stamp in green. Each saucer measures about 4 ½ inches in diameter. The cups stands about 1 5/8 inches tall at the rim and measure about 3 inches from handle to rim.
