Good used antique condition, no chips or cracks. Minor to moderate marks/signs of use throughout, mainly to the centre of the saucer where the cup would usually sit. A little loss to the gold guilding in the centre of the saucer. Some fine crazing to the underside of the cup. A beautiful antique late victorian demitasse cup and saucer by Coalport.
Featuring the beautiful Japanese Grove pattern of blue flying swallows on an an underglaze highlighted with bold gold guilding. First designed by Thomas Blocksidge in the 1870s. Japonisme had a large influence on designs of this period after the forced reopening of foreign trade in 1858. Cup height - 4.5cm. Cup width - 5.25cm.
