Please refer to the photos to see how classically beautiful this is. DIMENSIONS: The demitasse cups have a diameter of 2 1/8" with a height of 2 1/4".
The saucers have a diameter of 5" and a height of 3/4". HISTORY/MARKS: Charles Field Haviland was the nephew of David Haviland.
Charles Field in 1858 married Loiuse Alluaud, the granddaughter of the Alluaud porcelain family. In 1876 management of the firm was entrusted to Charles Field Haviland and the pottery's name was changed prior to his retirement in 1881. The partnership of Gerard, Dufaisseix & Morel took over.
The whiteware mark was changed to have the GDM under the CFH. Morel ceased to be a partner in 1890. This set was manufactured by GDM (Gerard, Dufaisseix & Morel) at their Rue De Nexon pottery in Limoges, France. This is one of the successors to the CFH pottery.
It has the green CFH/GDM backstamp with France written under it which came into effect with the partnership between Emile Gerard - Director, Jean-Baptiste Dufraisseix - Decorator, and Morel in 1891. This mark continued in use until 1900. The previous is true for all 8 cups & 5 of the saucers. These three also have the red France on them which means they were probably exported in 1891+.
