Dresden Wehsner Josephine & Potocka Portraits Green & Raised Gold Cup & Saucer
Dresden Wehsner Josephine & Potocka Portraits Green & Raised Gold Cup & Saucer. Beautiful porcelain cup and saucer. Decorated with a portrait of one side of Empress Josephine and a portrait of Princess Potocka on the other. Both portraits are framed in gold gilding and beading.
Has a green background with raised gold gilt floral scrollwork designs. Gold gilding to the handle and along the edge. Marked on the bottom with a blue W inside a shield and Dresden Germany underneath. This is an overglaze decorating mark used by Richard Wehsner in Dresden Germany around 1895. Also has a crown RC Rosenthal mark used between 1891 and 1906 in green and obscured by gold. Has some wear to the gilding, mostly in the center of the saucer, but otherwise good condition with no chips or cracks.The cup measures approximately 2 3/4 inches wide including the handle x 2 3/8 inches tall. The saucer measures approximately 4 1/8 inches wide. This is an antique and may have small in manufacture defects that do not effect the display of the piece.
