PARAGON JOHNSON RED ROSE CUP & SAUCER Rose Garland & Floating Rose Gold Saucer
"JOHNSON RED ROSE GARLAND & FLOATING ROSE on Gold". This features a dark red rose, buds and leaves forming a garland on the cup interior with heavy gold gilding all on a bright turquoise body. The saucer recess features a floating red rose on a completely gold circle. This is the famous JOHNSON rose floral pattern (originally painted by Reg Johnson).
Both pieces are in excellent undamaged condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, hairlines or restoration and pass the ping test of bone china perfectly. No material wear to floral transfer and only a few minor surface scratches on the turquoise body common with bold colored backgrounds. A slight gold rub to the very top of the handle. The saucer recess gold background has a beautiful burnished patina but there is some rubbing to the gold which is visible in the photos.
Cup measures 2 3/4" tall at sides and 3" to top of handle and is 4 3/8" across including handle; the saucer is 5 1/8" across. Double warrant mark under HMH Queen & Queen Mary dating this from 1938 to 1952. The pattern number A1540/2 is also handpainted in ochre on the saucer.
Please ignore all white spots on photos caused by camera flash. This lovely set would make a great addition to your collection. Please remember that my items are vintage and not store-bought-new and some minor wear from age and use should be expected. I do try and describe my items accurately. All items will be packed in bubble wrap and surrounding packing.
