This flow blue was made by The New Wharf Pottery Company in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent. New Wharf Pottery began production some time between 1875 and 1877. They stayed in business until 1894 when they became part of Wood and Son. The mark on the back of these pieces dates between 1891 and 1894.
These pieces have a lot of deeply flown blue in them. Most of these items are in very good condition for their age. 2 cups have small chips on the rims. 2 saucers have chips under the saucer along the edge. 1 cup does not have gold on the inside (it is not worn - it looks as if there was never any gold applied to it) The gold looks good with some very slight wearing on them. They do have what you would expect to find in flow blue of this age: small pitting marks about the size of a grain of sand and some raised sand bumps on some pieces. We pack with great care. The item "12 Cup & Saucer Sets Sevres Flow Blue with Gold New Wharf Pottery England" is in sale since Monday, June 24, 2019.
