Rosenthal Versace White Virtus Gala Tea Cup & Saucer, BRAND NEW DAMAGED- please read on. Embrace the epitome of luxury and elegance with the Versace Virtus Gala Cup & Saucer Sets. This exquisite set, boasting the iconic Versace allure, features a sophisticated blend of black, white, and gold, manifesting a stunning visual symphony. The bold black color serves as a canvas for the intricate gold designs, while the white accents add a touch of purity.
Each piece is crafted with meticulous attention to detail, ensuring that your coffee experience transcends the ordinary. Perfect for those who appreciate the finer things in life, this set is not just a kitchen accessory but a statement of style and opulence.
For this type of decoration the colours are melted into the glass at more than 1000°C. In this state the glass softens and the decoration is absorbed into it, so that both the color and the brightness are extremely resistant to scratches and abrasions. However, gold decorations are not completely resistant to possible abrasions due to the natural properties of this material. This decoration is tested by an institute specialising in building materials and is also washable in the dishwasher without any problem. As you can see from the photographs the saucer has been hit at some point leaving it chipped- please note I've collected what pieces I was able to retrieve from then packaging that are in a separate bag, some of them could be glued back but not fully so there will always be that break visible.
From that impact there is now a fine crack in the saucer that eventually would expand and split the saucer in two. One possible solution is to apply glue to the area to try and stop that from happening- you could do this kintsugi Japanese style and make it look as if repaired by gold.
Now the cup itself appears pristine, all bar one flaw that has to have been a manufacturing flaw. I hope you can make out from the pictures that there is an indentation on the lip of the cup.
Now in my opinion this is not a flaw that will expand over time as with the saucer. It is a localised flaw so to speak and poses no risk to the integrity of the cup.
However, it is still a flaw and needs to be taken account of appropriately. All I know is this can be made a serviceable set again with glue and gold paint or perhaps professionally restored. It will never be pristine but it has a potential long shelf life if treated carefully. I can envisage it sitting very comfortably amidst an intentionally random/eclectic tea or coffee service assembled by somebody- the ridiculously expensive gold Versace teacup and saucer abutting one completely different in style and worth less would be a fun contrast. Perhaps you own one that broke and this could serve as the repaired but flawed replacement?
If anybody has any recommendations on how to repair such items please message me with any details you'd care to share, I'd be much obliged. Any questions or issues you wish to discuss please message and I'll get back to you as soon as possible.
