CONDITION: Excellent, first quality without defect. This porcelain demitasse cup and saucer was produced in Germany by the Meissen factory in the late 19th century. It has the crossed swords mark under the glaze and it is the first quality mark.The saucer has a diameter of 5 1/2 inches and the cup is 2 7/8 inches high not counting the handle. It is made of the finest quality porcelain ever produced by Western manufacturers. The cup is shaped with a pedestal base and very unusual handle. The set is decorated in a style originating from the Asian culture known as Kakiemon. There are stylized flowers hand painted in vivid colors and a flying rooster. The borders are ornately painted. There are gilded accents and trim on both pieces.
