Beautiful set of 6 cream soup cups with saucers by Richard Ginori/Italy. This stunning set is featuring white porcelain body, with relief, basket weave molds. All pieces are hand painted with fruits and flowers and adorned with gilded rims. I tried to identify the pattern but wasn't able to find the exact match. The pattern is similar to Antico Doccia and Perugia but not quite the same.
Minimal wear, minimal use marks. No cracks noted, however, one cup (handle) might have been repaired, there is a small invisible line. Please refer to the last picture.
Some wear and small scab on the underside (foot areas). A small chip on one of the rims (underneath the rim, not visible). Some wear to gilt but corresponding with age and not extensive.
Aside from these minor imperfections, the set looks great for the age. Saucers measure - 7 wide. Cups - 6 (including handles). The pieces in the set are marked with the green Richard Ginori mark with stars, known to be earlier mark after the company was merged with.
Used during first few decades of 1900s. It remained family owned until 1896 when it merged with the Società Ceramica Richard of Milan, becoming Richard Ginori. Over the years, the company has enlisted top notch designers such as architect Gio Ponti and artist Paola Navone to lead the vision of the company.
Today, Richard Ginori is the most famous Italian factory. Elegantly designed products have graced museums and the tables of both the wealthy and an aspiring middle class. Their range includes all-white to air brushed and hand-painted collections with precious metal decorations. Some of their original patterns are still produced today.
