The Derby Porcelain company, later Royal Crown Derby, produced several thousands of patterns for their wares, very few of which were given a name. Patterns were referred to by their unique pattern number. If the trade mark states Royal Crown Derby then it was definitely manufactured at the Osmaston Road factory in Derby. There is usually a number in red near the foot rim of the base which gives the pattern number.
