This porcelain tea cup and saucer was produced in Germany by Meissen in the 1770s. The cup has the Marcolini dot marking and the saucer has an earlier marking without the dot. This was not an uncommon occurrence for the factory to have decorated blanks from consecutive periods. The saucer has a diameter of 5 1/8 inches.
The cup is 2 inches tall with a diameter of 3 1/8 inches. Both pieces are hand painted with scenes of a little girl tending her sheep in the pasture. The painting is very detailed and the colors bright. The subject matter is so charming and radiates peacefulness. It is out of the ordinary.
