
Antique (1890s): Imperial Bone China Tea Set (22 Carat Gold). By 1893 the business was recorded as employing 520 people at the " Imperial and Phoenix Works" and by 1900 they employed over 700 people.
The company was established in the 1890s and was known for producing high quality domestic & ornamental earthenware and china. It was incorporated as Empire Porcelain Co. Ltd in 1963 and was part of the Qualcast Group until its closure in 1967 due to difficulties in modernizing production. The pottery produced by this company included notable art-deco style table wares and decorative wares, which are now of interest to collectors. E xtremely high quality bone china tea set crafted to the highest standard.
The colours are so vibrant from the very light pastel green to the rose red and pink of the flower decoration. This is enhanced with the brilliant white, the 22 carat gold trim and finally the high gloss glaze unites the regal bonanza. The set is in very good antique condition. A foot of a teacup has a repair and generally some of the gilding is thinning slightly. Cup (6): (d)10.5cm x (h)6.5cm.
