An enchanting hand painted pale mint green antique cup and saucer by Boisbertrand and Theilloud of Limoges, France. This is an outstanding example of Limoges porcelain, the painting is extremely detailed and of the highest quality.
The cup has a very unique shape with gracefully scalloped "feet" and elaborate handle. It's also embossed with scrollwork which is further enhanced by gilding. The gilded scrolls act as frames for the breathtaking bird scenes, giving the impression of framed artwork in a gallery. The cup is 2 1/8" tall, 4 1/8" wide including the handle, and the diameter is 3 1/4. No chips, cracks, or crazing. A tiny bit of wear to the gold on the outside of the handle. The overall appearance is excellent. The saucer is similar to the cup with embossed, gilded scrollwork that frames hand painted artwork. It measures 5 1/2 in diameter. There is one small area on the underside of the saucer, on the inner rim of the base, that looks like a flake but is glazed over so it was manufactured this way. It's not at all noticeable anyway.
The only other issue is a small, narrow line of pink paint on the white inner circle of the saucer. It's the same color as the pink in the bird scene, just a little mistake.
