Antique KPM Berlin Tea Cup & Saucer, Scenic

  
CONDITION: Excellent, with no chips, cracks, restorations or wear. The impressed date letter indicates this year. The saucer is 5 1/8 inches in diameter and 1 1/8 inch deep. The cup is 2 5/8 inches tall with a diameter of 2 3/4 inches. The blank pattern is called Neuzierat with the raised gold cartouches and leaves.

There are two Watteau scenes on the cup and 2 scenes on the saucer. Expertly hand painted 18th century lovers are enjoying a cup of wine, some music or conversation in beautiful wooded landscapes. The painting is of the highest quality.

The details are fine and the colors are vivid. The raised gilding framing the scenes accents the superb overall design of the set.

There is a lacy gold border inside the rim o f the cup. There are gold accents on the handle and gilding on the rims. This is one of the finest examples of KPM's workmanship.
