This cup and saucer was produced in Japan by the Mari Mura Brothers between 1891 and 1911. It has the blue maple leaf and word Nippon. The saucer has a diameter of 5 7/8 inches, the cup is 2 inches high and 4 1/8 inches in diameter.
It is large and was probably used for breakfast coffee. The cup is molded with a blown-out shape. The elaborate gilding on both pieces is completely hand painted and all raised.
