Made in England by Shelley in their Glorious Devon pattern number 12734. ALL ARE FLAWLESS: ABSOLUTELY NO CRACKS, CHIPS, OR OTHER DAMAGE. This is a beautiful example of Shelley English pottery, and would make a dazzling addition to any table, and a gift that would never be forgotten. Each pieces has beautiful detail, and is embellished with a stunning rim of gold.

Each cup has gold trim around upper edge and in a leaf pattern on handle, each saucer has gold trim around edge. Pieces look and feel as if never used, and the china is so smooth that some photos even show a flash reflection on the wall.

The detail is sharp and beautiful, and the set is pure blue and white (aqua colored spots in a couple of photos are also from the flash). Teacup scenes depict delicate tree trunks in the foreground on one side with roofs (including a church steeple, I believe) in the distance, and two houses on the other, the one in front near a stream with its paned window swung open. A clever shrub between the two scenes obscures the flow blue that is the hallmark of antique blue and white. Saucers depict a girl or woman paused along her walk on the cobbled road to contemplate a stream below the bridge where she stands, as her typical Devon sheep dog plays close by in the field.

Farms and lovely trees stretch out behind, and the saucers has a large patch of open white space that really makes this illustration pop. Cups are 2-1/2" tall by 3-3/8" upper diameter, 1-3/4 lower diameter. Again, all are in flawless, fantastic condition. These are from my grandmother's estate; she was born in 1904; she was a flapper, a college graduate, a world traveler, and a collector.

I have long enjoyed looking at these cups, but it's time for them to go to someone who might use them. Please look closely at the photos and feel free to ask any questions or for additional photos. Each plate and cup will be separately wrapped, and the set will be double boxed for safe arrival.
